Onions

Onions

One of the most important benefits of onions is that it contains large amounts of antioxidants, quercetin and flavonoids, which contribute to inhibiting or slowing down the damage of cells and tissues in the body.
Studies have shown that the quercetin in onions contributes to the elimination of free radicals in the body and inhibits oxidative processes associated with atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
Onions also contain vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant in itself, which neutralizes the harmful effect of minerals in the blood.
There are other sources of quercetin other than onions, which are apples and tea, but recent studies in the Netherlands have shown that quercetin that comes from onions is absorbed into the body twice as good as that found in tea, and even three times that found in apples.
